Emerson Expands Design Engineering Center in China

 

The Center provides full range of R&D and qualification services to support Emerson’s business growth

 

Shenzhen, China (December 9, 2008) – Emerson  (NYSE:EMR)  today  announced  the expansion of Emerson Network Power Design Engineering Center in Shenzhen,  China.  The center supports the research and development (R&D)  of  embedded  computing  and  power conversion products,  providing  both  design capability and qualification services for product development and manufacturing.

 

With floor space of over 20,000 square meters, Emerson Power Design Engineering Center is now an R&D base for three Emerson divisions including Emerson Network Power, Emerson Motor, and Energy System North America. The expansion enables both the product design and qualification services to be consolidated in one location, improving operational efficiency and supporting the company’s business growth in the China and global markets.

One of the key research areas in the center is the development of highly efficient, high power density power supply and digital control systems. The technologies and products can be used in a wide range of applications in areas such as data communications, data storage, telecommunications, servers, personal computers and notebook computers.

 

Emerson entered China as early as the late 1970s through a technology transfer. The company has set up more than 40 legal entities in China, over 30 of which are manufacturing facilities, located in 15 cities. Emerson has also established more than 10 engineering centers, and has been expanding and strengthening its Asian procurement presence in China.
