Emerson Climate Technologies Contributes to the Development of the HVAC Academic Discipline

3rd Forum on Artificial Environment-Related Disciplines for Tutors of Ph.D. Candidates Held in Shanghai

Shanghai, September 8, 2008— The 3rd Forum on Artificial Environment-Related Disciplines for Tutors of Ph.D. Candidates was held successfully in Tongji University in Shanghai. Mr. Arup Majumdar, director of marketing at Emerson Climate Technologies, made a presentation at the Forum on Copeland Digital Scroll Heating technology and exchanged ideas with the attendees at the forum, which attracted over 100 Ph.D. candidate tutors, Ph.D. candidates, and senior corporate executives and engineering circles.

Industry leading innovative technology

Committed to technology innovation, Emerson Climate Technologies has developed a number of new technologies for the refrigeration and air-conditioning industry, including the Copeland Digital Scroll Heating technology that was tailored for low temperatures in North China. The cutting-edge technology was designated a “world leading” technology in 2005 by China’s Ministry of Construction for the first time in seven years.

The revolutionary Copeland Digital Scroll Heating technology is a highly reliable heating system for low temperature environments that uses enhanced vapor injection. With simple electronic control and no electro-magnetic interference leading to a simpler and more efficient performance, this technology saves more energy and is more efficient than traditional air conditioner heating systems. At the moment, energy-efficiency and emission reduction are widely accepted and practiced, these industry-leading technologies developed by Emerson Climate Technologies can improve people’s living standard while providing more comfort.

Helping the education industry as it always has

While innovating and making technological advances in Research and Development, Emerson Climate Technologies continues its dedication to education. Emerson Climate Technologies has long been interacting with institutions of higher learning by sharing with teachers and students its advanced technological concepts and research results, covering construction environment and equipment engineering, to refrigeration and related disciplines.

This time, Emerson Climate Technologies has brought its industry-leading ultra low temperature digital scroll heat pump technology to Tongji University to exchange ideas in an in-depth manner with experts and teachers of doctoral students who have all given positive feedback. Previously, the Emerson-initiated “Emerson Cup”, Emerson University Plan and Emerson Online University have all contributed to the development of related disciplines and have best reflected Emerson Climate Technologies’ commitment to education for China's HVAC air conditioning industry.

Highly acclaimed for high-efficiency and energy-conservation

Copeland Digital Scroll Heating technology was highly endorsed by many experts who attended the seminar. “Copeland Digital Scroll Heating technology developed by Emerson Climate Technologies adapts to the changing environment and is energy-efficient,” says Professor Long Weiding, managing deputy director of Building Energy Conservation & New Energy Research Center of Tongji University. “It is an excellent choice for North China where adequate heating is a must during the winter.”

“The biggest challenge in China is how to reduce the energy cost of heating and refrigerating,” says Arup Majumdar on the technology’s energy-efficiency property. “The initial investment of Copeland Digital Scroll Heating system is higher than that of the traditional heat pump systems. But in the long run, the technology is extremely cost-efficient since it saves energy throughout the year, and eliminates the need to invest in other heating equipment, such as central heaters and wall-mounted gas boilers, because it provides refrigeration in the summer and heating in the winter.”

As a global leader in heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) and refrigerating industry, Emerson Climate Technologies has long been committed to bringing advanced technology to universities and their students, contributing to the education of the most outstanding students for China’s air conditioning market. Favored by China’s policies, laws and regulations, as well as industry experts and researchers, the rapid development of Copeland Digital Scroll Heating technology will be facilitated, and it will become a mainstream technology in the market.
