HONG KONG, May 23, 2008 – Emerson (NYSE:EMR) announced today that the company and its employees have donated more than RMB 6.22 million in cash and equipment to the disaster relief efforts.  Approximately RMB 4 million in cash has been donated to the Red Cross Society of China and other relief organizations.  In addition, Emerson Network Power has donated equipment worth RMB 2 million and dispatched engineers to telecom operators located in the affected areas to assist them in reestablishing communications links.

Moreover, it is reported that all students (approximately 300) under the Emerson Project Hope education sponsorship program are safe, with no death or injuries reported.  They are located in the Nanjiang county of Sichuan province.  The schools have been temporarily closed as from May 12, 2008.

It is our commitment as a good corporate citizen to give back to the communities where we have business activities, and we are privileged to make donations as well as provide equipment and personnel to support the relief effort.”

Emerson has also participated in a number of disaster relief efforts, including a donation and assistance earlier this year to the snow stricken areas of China, support for the fight against SARS, the tsunami disaster relief and donations to the earthquake areas of Jiangxi province and Project Hope in China.
