Emerson Continues to Support Sichuan Earthquake Relief Efforts

HONG KONG, June 16, 2008 --- Emerson (NYSE:EMR) announced today that donations and pledges by the company, its subsidiaries and employees to the Sichuan earthquake relief efforts have reached nearly RMB 11 million in cash and equipment. 

The RMB 2 million worth of equipment was donated by Emerson Network Power China, where scores of engineers were dispatched to telecom operators located in the affected areas to assist them in re-establishing communications links.  Nearly RMB 5.5 million in cash has been donated to the Red Cross Society of China and other relief organizations.  Included in the total effort is the Company’s decision to donate RMB 250,000 to sponsor the construction of temporary classrooms through the China Youth Development Foundation , and the earmarking of RMB 3.25 million for construction of permanent schools.  The victims of this disaster will continue to face challenges for years to come, and this latter project is intended to help address this need.

Emerson has also participated in a number of disaster relief efforts, including a donation and assistance earlier this year to the snow stricken areas of China, support for the fight against SARS, the tsunami disaster relief and donations to the earthquake areas of Jiangxi province and Project Hope in China.
