“Emerson can not develop as fast as today in JIangmen without the support from the government of Jianmen”, said Sara Yang Bosco, expressing her gratitude to the local authority. She added, “To set up a new company here reflects Emerson’s confidence in the investment environment of Jiangmen, and Emerson will continue to make further investment in Jiangmen.” Meanwhile, she also said that Emerson will continue to support local community efforts for economic development and drive for prosperity while expanding its business here.
Vice mayor Zhongqiang YI spoke highly of Emerson’s investment. “The investment reflects the sound investment environment of Jiangmen and Emerson’s great support to the economic development to us,” Mr. Yi said. “It will definitely have a far-reaching impact on Jianghai District and Jiangmen City at large.”
The cooperation between Jiangmen City and Emerson goes back to October, 1997, when ClosetMaid (Jiangmen) Storage Ltd. a division of Emerson Storage Solutions, was established. For the next 10 years, the company has been the leading manufacturer and marketer of home storage and organizing products with more than 600 employees. Most of these products were exported to North American market, which made tremendous contribution to the Jiangmen’s economy. At the same time, Emerson continued to support local education initiatively. Peter Yam, former president of Emerson Greater China, was appointed visiting professor and advisor of Jiangmen Polytechnic in March, 2008.
Today, Emerson has set up more than 40 legal entities in China, over thirty of which are manufacturing facilities. Guangdong Province is the key area of Emerson’s investments.
