Emerson Greater China President Visits Jiangmen Polytechnic Institute Demonstrating Emerson’s Innovation and Leadership Development

Jiangmen, China (March 26, 2008) — Peter Yam, president of Emerson Greater China , delivered a speech on “Innovation and leadership development” at Jiangmen Polytechnic Institute (JMPT) today, which was warmly welcomed by both students and teachers. Furthering Emerson’s leadership and support of education in China, Peter Yam was appointed visiting professor and advisor of JMPT at the event.
In his hour-length speech, Yam shared some life and work experiences while focusing on Emerson‘s technology innovation and leadership development. JMPT students raised some questions to Yam, who answered all of them eagerly offering the students practical advice. As a gift to the university’s students and faculty, Yam presented the library of JMPT several copies of the Chinese edition of Performance without Compromise written by Charles. F. Knight, Chairman Emeritus of Emerson.
Students were able to get a better understanding on Emerson’s operational excellence and innovation throughout its hundred years of service as well as the role of leadership in the development of a successful career.

Also present at the event were leaders from Emerson, ClosetMaid Jiangmen of Emerson Storage Solutions, and the Foreign Trade Bureau of Jiangmen.
Peter Yam joined Emerson in 1986 and has since then been dedicated to Emerson’s development in China. Since 2002, China has been the second largest market for the company next to the US.
