Emerson’s facility in China strengthens the company’s position in the embedded computing and embedded power supply market

Zhongshan,  China  (December 9, 2008)  – Emerson  (NYSE:EMR)  today  announced  that  it  has completed the  phase  two  expansion of  Embedded Computing & Power n Zhongshan, China.  With  floor space of over 840,000 sq. feet, the new facility, which provides  embedded  computing  and  power  supply systems to Emerson Network Power’s customers,  is now Emerson’s largest technology and manufacturing base in China, supporting both local and international markets.     The Embedded Computing & Power supplies standard and   customized   embedded   power   supply   and computing  systems  for  applications  in  computing network, data storage, telecommunications, medical and measuring equipment areas.   The phase two expansion doubles the production capacity for embedded power supply systems, and introduces new product lines   for   embedded computing boards and systems, enabling the company to meet the growing market demand for cutting edge embedded products.

Emerson entered China as early as the late 1970s through a technology transfer. The company has set up more than 40  legal entities in China,  over 30  of which are manufacturing facilities,  located in  15 cities. Emerson has also established more than 10  engineering centers,  and has been expanding and strengthening its Asian procurement presence in China.
