Emerson Celebrates Opening of Its Shanghai New Office

SHANGHAI, CHINA, November 20, 2009 – Emerson ( NYSE: EMR ) celebrated the opening of its Shanghai new office in Innov Tower in Xuhui District here today, at which Edward L. Monser, COO of Emerson, Sara Yang Bosco, president of Emerson Asia-Pacific, Dadong Zhao, general manager of Emerson China, as well as some business leaders of Emerson China presented. deputy-director of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, Guo Jianfei, deputy-head of Xuhui District also participated in this ceremony.
The office move was precipitated by Emerson’s business development in China. The move strengthens the collaboration between different Emerson business units in China. Several Emerson business units are sharing space and resources in this new office, including Emerson Climate Technologies, ASCO Numatics from Emerson Industrial Automation, Emerson Motor Technologies, Emerson Appliance Solutions, Emerson Professional Tools and Emerson Storage Solutions, Embedded Computing and Power, ASCO Power Technologies and Asia Pacific Supply Chain Organization, which has been strengthening its Asian procurement presence to support the strong business growth.
”This new office is part of our plan to continue investing in China. It is a milestone in our operations here, reinforcing our commitment to doing business in Shanghai, China and Asia,” said Monser.
Bosco indicated that, despite FY09 being a difficult year due to the global economic downturn, Emerson China business has continued to grow. She also expressed gratitude to the hard work of all employees in China, especially for the dedication for this move.
China is now Emerson’s second largest market, and one of Emerson’s fastest growing regions in the world. Emerson has been doing business in China for 30 years. In 1993, Emerson Electric (China) Holdings was set up in Shanghai, and became the first US firm ever to set up a holding company in China. Since then, Emerson’s investments have grown substantially in China.
Over the years, this office has played a vital role in supporting divisions’ operations in China, and provides shared resources and services in many functions, including finance, human resources, supply chain, legal, information technology, trading, business development, government relations and administration.
