SHANGHAI, CHINA, November 25, 2009 -- Dong Lu, chairman and president of Fujian Refining and Petrochemical Co. Ltd.(FREP), leads a 6 person delegation to visit the headquarters of Emerson Process Management China today. The visit is to express their appreciation to Emerson for its excellent performance as the Main Instrument and Controls Contractor (MICC) in the implementation of Fujian Integrated Refining and Ethylene Joint Venture Project.
FREP is a joint venture between Sinopec, Fujian Province, ExxonMobil and Saudi Aramco, in which more than RMB 40 billion was invested. The company invested and operated the Fujian Integrated Refining and Ethylene Joint Venture Project, which triples the existing refinery capacity to 240,000 barrels per day to produce transportation fuels and other refined products. In addition, the project added a new petrochemical complex that included an 800,000 tons-per-year ethylene steam cracker, an 800,000 tons-per-year polyethylene unit, a 400,000 tons-per-year polypropylene unit and a 700,000 tons-per-year paraxylene unit, as well as a 300,000 DWT crude oil terminal and other utilities.
The complex also features a state-of-the-art cogeneration facility, which will meet the majority of the site’s power demands. Cogeneration is the simultaneous production of electricity and useful heat or steam from waste energy, resulting in lower operating costs and significantly reduced greenhouse gas emissions. All the partners celebrated the full operation of China’s first integrated refining and petrochemical facility with foreign participation on November 11, 2009 on site.
Emerson was selected as the MICC for the project to supply DeltaV Control System (DCS), Safety Instrument System (SIS), Fire and Gas System (FGS), Asset Management System (AMS), Operator Training and Simulation System (OTS), Rosemount® temperature, pressure and level devices, Fisher® digital valve controllers, Micro Motion® flow meters, Fisher valve & regulators, Rosemount analytical devices and Emerson Network Power’s Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems.
“We are here today to express our appreciation to Emerson for their excellent implementation of the FREP project,” said Dong Lu. "Your high-performance and reliable devices and systems have ensured the successful start-up and on-going operation of the project. Your advanced technology, like Foundation Fieldbus predictive diagnostic technology, has helped us reduce operating costs. We and our partners highly appreciate the professional, dedicated and hardworking Emerson servicing team. The implementation of the project is the best I have seen in the last two decades. We made the right decision to select Emerson as the MICC."
"It is our great honor to be selected as the MICC of the FREP project. The successful deployment and implementation of our solutions have demonstrated Emerson's commitment to the project." said Sweechee Lee, vice president and general manager of Emerson Process Management China, "The success is based on close collaboration among all parties. Emerson's leading technologies and services help ensure the safety, reliability and best-in-class performance of these facilities.”
