Emerson Network Power Establishes New Facility in Jiangmen

JIANGMEN, GUANGDONG, July 10, 2009 – Emerson (NYSE:EMR) announced today that Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson and the global leader in enabling Business-Critical Continuity™, has officially opened the first phase of a new manufacturing plant in Jiangmen, Guangdong in China. The facility aims to satisfy the growing demand for Emerson Network Power’s products in China, Asia and globally.
The opening ceremony for the new facility was attended by Edward L. Monser, chief operating officer of Emerson, Sara Yang Bosco, president of Emerson Asia-Pacific, and Stephen Liang, president of Emerson Network Power Asia Pacific, as well as a number of officials from the provincial and local governments.

The construction contract of Emerson Network Power (Jiangmen) Co., Ltd. was signed on April 18, 2008, with a registered capital of US$1 million and a total investment of 30 million RMB. The first phase of the manufacturing plant has more than 13,000 square meters of floor space, and mainly produces precision cooling systems and isolation transformers. With tremendous support from the Jiangmen government, the plant began operating in February 2009. Emerson Network Power is now preparing for the construction of the second phase of the plant.
Liang indicated: “China's economic stimulus package has boosted the construction and development of infrastructure such as transportation and telecommunication systems. As a result, these industries have growing demands for Emerson Network Power’s products. The Jiangmen plant plays an important role in assisting Emerson Network Power satisfy the growing demand in the industrial sector and better serve customers in China and the Asia- Pacific region.”
“Jiangmen’s strategic location and the support from the Jiangmen government are key to Emerson Network Power’s investment. Jiangmen is an important trading hub in the Pearl River Basin. In recent years, the government has continuously invested in infrastructure and focused on economic development. Their goal is to position Jiangmen as a center for advanced manufacturing industries and a new growth area in the Pearl River Delta. Emerson benefits from the favorable policies launched by the government in Jiangmen,” added Liang.
Emerson Network Power’s Jiangmen plant not only supports the business development of the company, but also benefits the local economy and employment. Emerson Network Power (Jiangmen) Co., Ltd. currently employs 300 people. Thirty percent of workforces are technical staff, and most of employees come from Jiangmen’s Wuyi district. Local employment is expected to increase as the operation grows in the future. The company also actively implements corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs. In mid June, Emerson Network Power cooperated with Wuyi University to create an "Emerson Scholarship", providing financial support to students in the region. In addition, Peter Yam, advisor and retired president of Emerson Greater China, was appointed by Jiangmen Polytechnic Institute as a visiting professor and advisor.
The cooperation between Emerson and Jiangmen started in 1997 when Emerson set up Closetmaid (Jiangmen) Storage Co., Ltd. Emerson Network Power (Jiangmen) Co., Ltd. is the second company Emerson has established in Jiangmen, and it represents a significant achievement in the company’s development in the Guangdong province.
