Emerson Network Power Offers Data Centre Environment Assessment Services to Channel Partners in South East Asia
New audit service identifies customers’ specific data centre needs and requirements
SINGAPORE, May 11, 2009 – Rising energy costs, expanding heat loads and escalating computing requirements are creating new power and thermal challenges for data centre managers. To address these issues, Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE:EMR) and the global leader in enabling Business-Critical Continuity™ has launched its Data Centre Environment Assessment (DCEA) services to its channel partners. The new service enables partner access to qualified Emerson engineers to provide comprehensive analysis to the customer’s data centre.
The auditing physically explores the customer’s current data centre operations and future plans to determine any needed improvements. It helps identify and resolve existing and potential power, cooling and design vulnerabilities that could adversely affect the data centre’s operational performance, availability and energy efficiency.
“Taking a proactive approach can help prevent costly downtime of business critical equipment. The service helps determine whether heat is being removed from sensitive heat-generating computer equipment and examines the capacity of existing electrical systems and the quality of power provided to the data center,” said Hitesh Prajapati, channel business director, Emerson Network Power (Asia Pacific).
The assessment tools used in the audit measure the airflow and temperature of the room, and include a software program that provides a detailed facility floor plan that shows the location of existing equipment server racks and airflow obstructions.
At the end of the audit, a comprehensive report will be provided that shows points of failure and any potential power issues surrounding harmonic distortion, voltage regulation and load imbalance. Moreover, specific recommendations for improvement are included which can be used to protect IT investment, advance air flow, improve vapor barrier, and reduce heat within the data center or computer room.
