Emerson Asia-Pacific President Reveals Path To Become Technology Leader

BEIJING, CHINA, September 17, 2009 – Sara Yang Bosco, president of Emerson (NYSE: EMR) Asia-Pacific, was invited to give a speech on “Emerson’s Transformation from Technology Follower to Industry Leader— 30 Years in China” at an event organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in the People's Republic of China (AmCham-China).
In her speech, Bosco explained how Emerson has evolved from a technology follower into an innovative company and industry leader today. She also talked about Emerson’s business development in China in the last 30 years, and how technology innovation has played an important part in the process. In the discussion session, Bosco shared her experience and advice for multinational companies developing business in China.
“Our focus on cultivating leaders and innovation has been key to our success in developing business in China in the past 30 years. In addition, Emerson is committed to strengthening business platforms, pursuing technology leadership, globalizing assets and improving operational efficiency in China and worldwide,” Bosco said. |

Bosco gave an overview of Emerson’s global business development, and covered topics including Emerson’s business strategies in China and Asia-Pacific, corporate citizenship efforts, local talent development and research and development (R&D) of innovative products and solutions based on the “In China, For China” strategy. Emerson has developed a management process that enables the company to deliver consistent financial performance in an ever changing economic environment.
China is one of the fastest growing markets for Emerson. Since 2002, China has been the second largest market for the company next to the U.S. Emerson entered China in the late 1970s through a technology transfer, and the company established its first wholly foreign-owned enterprise in China in 1992. Today, Emerson has set up more than 40 legal entities in China, over thirty of which are manufacturing facilities. There are also more than 10 engineering centers in China. Bosco was named the president of Emerson Asia-Pacific in March 2008, responsible for Emerson Asia-Pacific’s business operations and strategic development.
