Emerson Climate Technologies Jointly Hold International Refrigeration, Air-conditioner Energy Efficiency and Environmental Protection Technology Forum

Beijing, China (June 18, 2010) – Emerson Climate Technologies, a global business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), in cooperation with the Department of Resource Conservation and Environmental Protection of the National Development and Reform Commission, and Industrial Standards Department of the Standardization Administration of the People's Republic of China participated in “The 4th International Refrigeration Air-conditioner Energy Efficiency and Environmental Protection Technology Forum” held here today. Other government agencies and private organizations who joined the event were the China National Institute of Standardization, Chinese National Engineering Research Center of Green Refrigeration Equipment, International Copper Association, Haier, Gree, Midea Group, National Standards Committee of R & AC Equipment and National Standardization Technical Committee on Energy Fundamentals and Management.
At the forum, Scott Barbour, President of Emerson Climate Technologies Asia Pacific, shared his insights on energy efficient products, market situation and development trends. In his speech, Barbour drew a comparison of the history and standards of energy efficiency in the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) industry between the US and China, and introduced the development of US HVAC regulations and market factors that affected them. In addition, Don Newlon, Vice President for Marketing of Emerson Climate Technologies Asia-Pacific talked about the development and trends of heat pump water heater technologies, particularly on energy-saving measures.
Technical experts and researchers from related institutions and fields worldwide were invited to promote international exchange of technologies and experience, and multilateral cooperation.
China's White Paper on Energy Efficiency Conditions of Energy Efficient Products for 2010 was also released for the first time in the forum. The White Paper indicated that the energy efficiency level of refrigerator, residential air-conditioner, and inverter air conditioner in the field of home appliances has increased notably compared to that in 2008. Specifically, the market share of energy-efficient residential air-conditioner has increased from 5% to more than 50%.
This event is one of the highlights of the 2010 energy saving promotion week. It presents the latest trends, application and market development of energy-efficient technologies and policies in the field of refrigeration and air conditioning. On-site demonstration of new solutions was also organized. Through this, the direction of energy conservation of China’s refrigeration and air conditioning may be determined, as well as policies necessary to accelerate the promotion of energy efficient products.
