Emerson Names Kathleen McElligott as Chief Information Officer

ST. LOUIS, February 17, 2010 – Emerson (NYSE:EMR) announced today that Kathleen McElligott has been named chief information officer (CIO).  She replaces Stephen C. Hassell, who had been CIO since 2004 before being named President of combined Aperture and Avocent businesses within Emerson Network Power last month.

McElligott will be responsible for Emerson’s information technology strategy for the company’s global operations, including hardware, software and services, as well as its telecommunications and data center infrastructure.

“Kathy has deep IT experience and has shown initiative and strong leadership since joining Emerson a decade ago. She will be a vital asset to Emerson, our shareholders and customers in her new role,” said Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President David N. Farr.

McElligott joined Emerson in 2000 as vice president of information technology for the Emerson Power Transmission division. In 2003, she was promoted to vice president of information technology for the Industrial Automation business, a title she held until her promotion to CIO.

Prior to joining Emerson, McElligott spent 22 years with General Electric, holding multiple information systems leadership roles, including CIO of supply chain for GE Aircraft Engines and IT manager of the Cycolac business of GE Plastics.

McElligott received a bachelor’s degree in computer science at Kent State University and a master’s degree in business management from Xavier University
