Emerson Climate Technologies is the world’s leading innovator in heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration technologies for residential, industrial and commercial applications. The Digital Scroll compressor technology was specifically designed to meet consumers’ needs and is revolutionizing the Asian air-conditioning market.
In Hong Kong, as across most of Asia, homes typically have several window or ‘split’ type air-conditioning units, one for each room. The units are inefficient and aesthetically unpleasant with poor temperature control and uncomfortable noise levels.
The new system powered by Digital Scroll allows outside machines to be consolidated into one unit, eliminating unsightly boxes from outside buildings, and delivering quieter, more efficient and highly controllable temperature regulation.
Awards judges commended Emerson’s winning technology solution as: “A good application of existing technologies. The technology is practical, is being adopted widely in the air-conditioning industry and has a competitive edge over traditional inverter technologies.”
Mark Dunson, Vice President Marketing, Asia-Pacific, Emerson Climate Technologies, said: “We are delighted to have been recognized with this prestigious award in Hong Kong. Air-conditioning systems powered by Digital Scroll are rapidly replacing less advanced traditional split-systems. The technology is being rapidly adopted by major manufacturers across Asia including Samsung, Trane, Midea, Gree, Hualing, McQuay and Mitsubishi Heavy-Haier.
“The technology endorsement from this latest award builds on Emerson’s growing success in Hong Kong and China in bringing tangible benefits to our customers in Greater China and the rest of Asia.”
Earlier this year China’s Ministry of Construction awarded a heat pump system using Emerson’s Copeland Digital Scroll® Heating technology with its highest endorsement – designating it as a “world leading” technology. This marks the first time in seven years that any new technology in China has received this top designation.
Emerson is enjoying considerable success with Digital Scroll technology in China where a booming housing market, rising energy consumption and environmental concerns have created demand for energy-efficient heating and cooling systems.
In addition, Emerson has been working collaboratively with the Chinese government to establish a framework for formulating and implementing standards for energy efficiency. This past year Emerson Climate Technologies supported the Standardization Administration of China (“SAC”) and the China National Institute of Standardization (“CNIS”) develop a public education campaign to raise awareness of the “China Energy Label” when buying an air conditioner (see www.51sd.org.cn).
