Emerson Celebrates Ground Breaking of New Leroy Somer Production Facility in Fuzhou
New facility demonstrates Emerson’s continued commitment and confidence in the China market
Fuzhou, March 21, 2006 – Emerson (NYSE: EMR), officially broke ground on its new Leroy Somer production facility in Fuzhou today. The new 300,000 sq. ft. manufacturing plant represents Emerson’s continued commitment and investment in China and, when finished in 2007, will employ more then 800 people.
Attending the ground breaking ceremony were government officials from Fujian Province and Fuzhou, Developers, Edward L. Monser, Chief Operating Officer (“COO”) of Emerson, Frederic Lambert, President, Asia Pacific, Emerson Industrial Automation, and Emerson employees.
Leroy Somer Electro-Technique (Fuzhou) Co., Ltd, is a division of Emerson Industrial Automation, which delivers manufacturing solutions to give its customers the most advanced industrial automation possible. It’s new plant will be the first to open in Changshan Industrial Zone and will increase Leroy Somer’s manufacturing capabilities in Fuzhou. To meet China’s rising demand for energy-related equipment, last year Fuzhou became the manufacturing base for a broader range of Leroy Somer products including generators, motors and gear motors.
