Beijing, China, November 28, 2007 — Emerson (NYSE:EMR), together with The Commercial Press and Harvard Business Review Chinese Edition, hosted a reception today in Beijing to celebrate the official launch of the Chinese edition of “Performance Without Compromise: How Emerson Consistently Achieves Winning Results” by Charles. F. Knight, Chairman Emeritus of Emerson.

less than US$1 billion in revenue to one with over sixty global subsidiaries with revenues of over US$15 billion. The publication of the book’s Chinese edition enables Chinese readers to learn about the secrets behind Emerson’s consistent winning results. The book describes how the Emerson team developed, fine-tuned, and actively executed the management process, enabling the company to:

At the reception, Charles F. Knight, Emerson Chairman, was accompanied by David N. Knight will also deliver a series of speeches at Tsinghua University, Fudan University, and China Europe International Business School. He will highlight the six elements and leadership initiatives in the Emerson management process, including “keep it simple, commitment to planning, strong follow-up and control system, and best operation strategies”. Emerson will distribute to schools and teachers hundreds of copies of the Chinese edition of Knight’s book Performance Without Compromise: How Emerson Consistently Achieves Winning Results for free.
Knight is Emerson’s Chairman Emeritus and was Emerson’s CEO for 27 years. He stepped down from this position in 2000 and retired as chairman in 2004. During his tenure as CEO, the company's sale increased by 16 times to over US$15 billion, and net earnings increased by 18 times to over US$1.4 billion. Davis Dyer, co-author of the book, is the founding director of The Winthrop Group, Inc. He is the author of the Rising Tide: Lessons from 165 Years of Brand-Building at Procter & Gamble published by the Harvard Business School Press in 2004.
